My Sunday photo The Meeting Place statue at Kingscross St Pancras

The Lovers celebrating the joining of two cultures England and France at the Eurostar terminal.

I wandered past The Meeting Place statue on recently and every time I have to stop and take it in. The Meeting place statue is 30 feet high and weighs  20 tons. Standing proudly in place at St Pancras Station and built to commemorate the coming together of two countries at the Eurostar terminal.

The artist Paul Day wanted to show a meeting of minds and well as a physical connection.

It is the most amazing work of art

The Meeting Place statue stands just under the clock and is not far in front of the statue of Sir John Betjman the poet who saved the station from demolition in the 1960s.

In 2008 a high relief frieze was added to the Base of the statue and is a work of art in itself depicting scenes and history throughout the years of the train and tube in London. the attention to detail is extraordinary. Each piece depicting a different time in train travel.
