The Theatre Royal Drury lane has recently had a complete refurbishment to host the brand new Disney Musical of Frozen! With new bars and restaurants right within the theatre doors there is even more choice of places to eat now. Not only that the Theatre Royal Drury lane sits in the heart of Covent Garden giving you an abundance of eateries and so much choice!
After getting London tickets to a show the next thing is finding a restaurant or bar that suits your needs. If you want to be very close to the theatre there are some great choices directly outside its doors as well as in the theatre itself! You can also walk a few minutes to Covent Garden, Bow street and Maiden Lane for more choice.

The Garden at the Lanes
In the actual Drury lane theatre itself is the newly opened The Lane Garden restaurant and bar. A relaxed café & bar with high ceilings, oversized chandeliers, green plants and gorgeous flowers. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and offers light bites and pastries along with cocktails. They are also serving afternoon tea in the Grand saloon.
Booking is advisable but walk ins are welcome.
Augustus Harris for Italian Cicheti
One of my favourites which is directly opposite the theatre is Augustus Harris. Augustus Harris is a wine bar and coffee shop inspired by the bàcari of Venice. Augustus Harris serve small plate fresh cicheti and crostini with cocktails and a full Italian wine list. You will find here the best sourced finest cheeses, cured meats and food platters all served by the greatest bar manager in Covent Garden “Tony”.
It is also perfect for after show drinks as it is directly opposite the Theatre Royal.

Pub Food in the Marquess of Anglesey
If it’s traditional pub grub you are after try the pub opposite the Theatre which is the Marquess of Anglesey. Serving traditional British food such as fish and chips, scampi and roast dinners on a Sunday. The pub’s first floor restaurant allows you to watch the hustle and bustle of central London whilst dining pre or post theatre show.

San Carlo Cicchetti
For an Italian food in London with a bit of luxury is San Carlo Cicchetti which serves small plate Venetian food. The luxurious setting of the restaurant is in Catherine street Covent Garden. Lots of choice on the menu here for Italian food and it can get quite busy.

Tuttons Brasserie
Tuttons Brasserie is located overlooking the main Piazza in Covent Garden. The menus focus on showcasing the best of British seasonal produce, combining traditional British favourites alongside classic dishes with a twist. Tuttons offer a pre theatre menu for theatre goers. They also have a menu for children priced at £6.50
Boulevard Brasserie French restaurant
Boulevard Brasserie is a lovely French restaurant well known for its pre theatre dining just around the corner to the Theatre Royal and also the Lyceum Theatre where the Lion King is showing. A beautiful little restaurant in Covent Garden’s unique and vibrant area where you can enjoy classic french cuisine.
They do a kids menu for £7.50 and serve pre theatre menu as well as afternoon tea.

Bow Street Tavern Pub
Another great pub for food near the Theatre Royal Drury lane is the Bow Street Tavern in Bow street. They serve British classics such as cider battered fish and chips, steak and ale pies and burgers. They are also offer Vegetarian and vegan food with quiche, gnocchi and their “bleeding” vegan Moving Mountains burger.
Sunday roasts are covered as well with a large selection of meat, vegetarian and vegan options. For larger groups they have sharing boards and scotch eggs available on the bar. The children’s menu is available until 8pm and also a two or three course pre theatre menu.
Bodean’s BBQ Covent Garden
A Bodean’s BBQ is a great American steakhouse directly opposite the theatre at 25 Catherine street. It specialises in meats such as ribs and pulled pork with slow-smoked BBQ, secret rubs and sauce recipes.
They also do a great kids menu for just £4.95!

If you want to try something a little different before your theatre show try Champagne and Fromage for literally Champagne and amazing cheese platters. A great little find for something different.

Barrafina is a fantastic little restaurant that prepares and cooks all of the food in front of you! It is a modern Spanish tapas bar and has daily changing specials menus.
