Indigo overlooks One Aldwych’s buzzing Lobby Bar. Chef Dominic goes to extraordinary lengths to find the very best independent food producers from across the British Isles. In the kitchen ingredients are handled with skill and passion, celebrating flavour and provenance on every plate. Open from 7am for breakfast right though to evening meals. It also offers a pre-theatre menu.

One of my favourite restaurants along the Strand is the Port House serving traditional tapas and wine to match! Recommended to me many years ago by a regular london old man! The menu is a fab Spanish menu with amazing choices such a Serrano ham, Spanish cheeses, albondigas meat balls and patatas bravas. Get your glass of cava and chill in this quaint tall dark townhouse restaurant!

The Wellington pub is a Nicholsons pub and always a good choice for some pub grub before a show. All your regular pub favourites are served here in a cosy traditional pub and it’s only 1 minute from the theatre on the strand! Reasonably priced for a london pub serving tasty pies and British classics. The stunning pub dates back to 1903 and is always full and bustling and has outdoor seating.

Joe Allen – American dining

Joe Allens in Covent Garden was first opened in 1977, a sister restaurant to the original New York site, named after its owner and creator. The restaurant has a discreet entrance in Covent Garden with a simple plaque on the wall. Inside you will find walls adorned with film posters and photos and a cosy quirky amosphere. It makes it a perfect theatre restaurant with a child menu as well! Joe Allens serves an American menu and an extensive wine list. Whether you’re looking for a quick pre- theatre meal or an atmospheric lunch or dinner this one comes up trumps.

If it’s pizza you fancy head off to Franca Manca Covent Garden in maiden Lane. Francs Manca Specialises in sourdough pizza including vegan pizzas! All pizzas and dough are made fresh onsite to order and include gluten free options and a choice of cheeses.

If you want to find something a little bit different with flavours that explode in your mouth look no further than Cinnamon Bazaar, Maiden Lane’s Fine Indian Food. Cinnamon bazaar is situated in the heart of Covent Garden and is part of the cinnamon collection of restaurants. Cinnamon bazaar is described as all day dining which mixes real heritage with urban London.

Condesa which is another vote for tapas here in this fabulous intimate tapas bar. This restaurant always receives rave reviews for its authentic Spanish tapas in the cosy restaurant. Barrafina is a fantastic little restaurant that prepares and cooks all of the food in front of you! It is a modern Spanish tapas bar and has daily changing specials menus.
