The files will be black, but they will be labelled by colour. This is just an example of the coloured card stock you can use.
I chose a range of colours for my the four layers of Robin SVG cut files;

  • The first layer is black
  • The second is white
  • Third is lighter red
  • The fourth layer is brown

I have given ideas for the colour of each layer, but obviously, this is a guide only; you can do any colour you like!

Suppose you want to back each piece a different colour; you can too! Cut the top piece 1 in white or black and do other pieces by hand. You could also use the background layer and the top layer for a wooden circus sign sign with Glowforge or X-tool template.

What do I need to cut my layered SVG in Card?

To cut out your layered SVG in a card for a craft project you will need the following;

I use foam pads for my layers and wet glue to stick the top layer.

How to cut the to the Layered Robin the same size?

To cut your Layered Robin to the same size you would need to ensure all layers are the same size.
You can resize the first one to whatever size you would like and then make sure the others are the same on your cutting machine. You can do this on the Cricut in Design Space or on the Silhouette.

How to resize a PNG in Silhouette design space

To resize in Silhouette Studio go to the transform panel which looks like bars in different lengths. Click on scale which is the icon that is a line with an arrow at either end.
You Can either resize by 50% smaller or put in your own dimensions.
To specify the dimensions go to the two bottom boxes. Click the lock button on the right to constrain the design dimensions, as the image is not the same on both sides.

To keep the same dimension but fit the page just put the width size into the top box with the lock checked. It will keep the same shape but fit it to your page or the size you would like.
I made 9 inches by putting 9 in the top box and pressing return and it fits to a 12×12 cutting mat.
Every time you cut a new layer, do the same this way all of your layers will fit together.
