Layered Mardi Gras SVG’s

Mardi Gras day this year is March the 1st 2022. I have created these Layered Mardi Gras SVGs for your 2022 celebrations. Use this Mardi Gras day 2022 SVG for decorating your home or even for a T-shirt decal in vinyl. The larger layered Mardi Gras SVG has every thing you need on it such as Mardi Gras beads, Mardi Gras hat, carnival mask and a Mardi Gras Fleur di li. I have also included the smaller elements for you to download too. A layered Fleur di li SVG, a Layered mask SVG, a layered firework SVG and a layered jester hat SVG.

Mardi Gras is also known as Fat Tuesday and many events take place, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is celebrated in all of Louisiana, including the city of New Orleans. Celebrations are concentrated for about two weeks before and Carnival celebration up to Fat Tuesday.

In this free download you will receive 5 layered free cut files in PNG or SVG file format whichever you prefer. Each cut file will have differnt layers that can be cut a different colour! The files will be black but they will be labelled by colour. This is just an example of the coloured card stock you can use.
I chose a range of colours for my HappyLayered Mardi Gras SVG cut files;

• The Layered Mardi Gras SVG first layer is black
• The second is purple
• The third layer is green
• Layer 4 is yellow

I have given ideas for the colour of each layer but obviously this is a guide only, you can do any colour you like!
If you want to back each piece a different colour you can too! Just cut the top piece number 1 in white or black and do other pieces by hand. You could also use the background layer and the top layer for a wooden veneer Mardi Gras Glowforge template.

How can I cut the Layered Mardi Gras on the Silhouette cameo?

You will also need a cutting machine that it linked to your computer. Such as a Cricut, Silhouette Cameo 4 or a Silhouette Portrait. Both are a fabulous pieces of kit and perfect for any crafter or scrapbooker. The cut files you will receive are a PNG which automatically traces in most cut design spaces as well as an SVG file. What do I need to cut my layered SVG in Card?

To cut out your layered SVG in card for a craft project you will need the following;

• Card stock that cuts well on a cutting machine ( I like American Crafts Card stock )
• A cutting machine such as a Silhouette Cameo 4 or a Cricut maker ( I use a Silhouette Cameo or a Silhouette Portait machine.
• A cutting Mat
• weeding tools
• A brayer to smooth the card stock to the mat
• Sticky foam pads so raise up your layers
• Glue if you wish to stick flat ( I like this Tombow Mono Glue )

I use foam pads for my layers and wet glue to stick the top layer.

How to cut the Mardi Gras files the same size

To cut your Mardi Gras SVGs you need to make sure all layers are the same size.
You can resize the first one to whatever size you would like and then make sure the others are the same on your cutting machine. You can do this on the Cricut in Design Space or on the Silhouette.

How to resize a PNG in Silhouette design space

To resize in Silhouette Studio go to the transform panel which looks like bars in different lengths. Click on scale which is the icon that is a line with an arrow at either end.
You Can either resize by 50% smaller or put in your own dimensions.
To specify the dimensions go to the two bottom boxes. Click the lock button on the right to constrain the design dimensions as the image is not the same both sides.

To keep the same dimension but fit the page just put in the width size in to the top box with lock checked. It will keeps the same shape but fit it to your page or the size you would like.
I made My small ones mine 3 inches by putting 3 in the top box and pressing return and it fits to a 12×12 cutting mat.

My larger cut file has been cut at 9.5 inches that way I could fit all 5 cuts on a sheet or 12 x 12. Make sure the lock in on to constrain the size each time.
Eveytime you cut a new layer do the same this way all of your layers will fit together.
