You can go ice skating all over Londons famous places at christmas with pop up ice rinks and some permanent rinks that get dressed up and revamped for the christmas period. You can skate at Covent Garden, Alexander palace, the Natural History Museum and even the Tower of London to name but a few. 1. Covent Garden ice skating

Where can you skate for free in London?

This year Covent Gardens christmas rink is free! A beautiful  Tiffany of London inspired ice rink. Skate in Covent Gardens piazza amongst the scent of Tiffanys perfume. The huge giant Tiffany bottle gently scents the air with fragrance ( it smells amazing! ) while you skate to your hearts content. You enter under a bridge inspired by the New York’s Central Park bridge. If tickets are all sold out on Eventbrite for ice-skating you still may be able to sign up on the day. Tickets are free and you can book via Eventbrite.

2. The natural history museum Ice rink 

This stunning Ice Rink at the Natural History Museum is one of the most magical places to be this winter. It is set against the backdrop of the Waterhouse building surrounded by fairy lights in frost-covered christmas trees. Skate your way around the rink with cosy gloves and the smell of mulled wine in the air.

The natural history museum ice rink costs  from £12.65 for adults, £8.80 for children and families are from £39.60.  It is open from 19 October 2019  to the 12 January 2020 from 10.00-22.00 (times may vary)  It  Closed on the 25th of December.

3. Somerset house’s ice rink

Somerset House is a huge ice rink with an impressive backdrop. This year the ice rink will be again hosted by Fortnum and mason with a spectacular tree right in the centre. They are doing 24 hr skating sessions so you could skate all night long!  Prices start at just £11 you can go from 13th November to the 4th January.

4. The Tower of London ice rink 

Whisk your way off to the Tower of London this year to go back in time with an Ice skate rink in style. The Tower promises  you will create truly unforgettable memories at this extraordinary backdrop. Adult and Teens are from £16.20 to £17.70, Children 3  to 12 years are from £11.70 to £12.20. Open daily except christmas day from the 16th of November to the 5th of January.

5. London’s Hyde park Winter Wonderland 

One of the most well known Winter Wonderlands is held in London Hyde park. Not only can you skate but you can eat, visit santa and try a array of fairground rides. With an Ice bar a fire pit and a multitude of shows and things to do you just may stay there all day a truly magical feast for everyone. Winter wonderland is open from the 21st of November to the 5th of January and they also have skate aids for kids. You can even take your own skates!

6. Queens House Ice rink at the Royal Museums Greenwich

A London Ice rink that opens later in January

The world UNESCO buildings of the Royal museum Greenwich are hosting Ice skating. With views over the Thames this is sure to be a breathtaking retreat this winter. This opens later in to January too! Not closing until the 12th of January. It cost from £13.50 for adults and from £8 for children.

7. City island ice rink 

Skate your way around this winter event that even host a christmas market. Open from the 12th to the 22nd of December in an outdoor rink. Adults are just £8 and children are £5.50 Bargain!

8. Hampton Court Palace Ice rink 

Is this the most scenic of all wintery rinks? Imagine skating at Hampton court the historic home of Henry the V111! This is perfect for families as they offer Penguin and Banana skate aids for the kids. These are available to pre-book. whizzing around the ice here costs just £10.50 for children and £15 for adults. You can skate this year from the 22nd of November to the 5th of January excluding christmas day.

9. Skylight Icerink

This year the Skylight roof top bar will be reinventing itself yet again with an ice rink on the roof! You can book tables and even igloos with your friends and skate under the stars with a view of the city. You could even spend New years eve at this unique location in Tobacco dock.

10. Camden Market Ice rink

Camden Market is transforming the North Yard into an illuminated North Pole. As if Camden is great fun for kids and they can have a magical experience and will encounter Santa and skating all in one place. This ice rink at the Alexandra Palace is open all year round! There is even an Ice Disco that takes place every Saturday from 8:30 to 11pm, and monthly appearance’s from legendary London DJ Club de Forage. Situated inside the iconic Victorian building its a tad warmer too.
