Leading up to the main event
Bubbles
First off it would be lovely to invite your guests in with a glass of bubbly this is the easy bit! Try a nice glass of Co_op Irresistible Prosecco at only £7.99 it will go down a treat. This award winning bubbly was recently voted top in a Which? poll. Perfect to pair crisps and nibbles on arrival such as the Co-ops gingerbread tortillas.
White Rjoca anyone?
Why not try a white Cune Rioja with your Turkey for a different refreshing taste. Very smooth on the palate and priced at £8.99 it is perfect with fish or chicken and is barrel fermented for an oaky richness.
Reserva Rjoca
A 2012 Reserva Rjoca is perfect for the main event, at £17.99 it is aged so the tannins have dropped out. Aged in American and French oak barrels that add a hint of vanilla and coconut to give very soft tannins.
Dessert time
Jurancon
Along comes dessert and what is better than a French Jurancon at £6.99, made with humid grapes that intensify the sweetness. Great with fresh fruit salad or strawberry, It actually complements the sweetness very well actually making it less sweet and not too sickly.
Perfectly paired! try it with white chocolate for a creme brûlée experience!
10 year old tawny port vintage
Still want more food? Why not? it is Christmas. Try a 10 year old Tawny Port, it is so good it smells just like christmas and at £13.99 is perfect for a real after dinner treat.
A boxing day treat, White wine with cheese?
Co-op Irresistible Chateauneuf du Pape 2015
Chateauneuf du Pape is perfect for cold meats and boxing day pickles. It feels like a really lovely light treat after a full on day of food. The Co-ops Chateauneuf du Pape 2015 is priced at £12.99.
The Laneway Chardonnay
The Laneway Chardonnay label depicts some local street art near the winery. Whilst I am not a lover of Chardonnay but this was exquisite much more delicate and crisper like a Chablis. This is great for seafood as well it sits so soft on the palette with a really sweet finish. Perfect with cheese and makes the cheese taste more creamy.
Some other alternatives
Pioneers Pinot Grigio a members choice
Why not try the members only wine? The Co-op has been working with its members, and over 4000 of them helped choose this wine. From the grape to the region, name and label, the result is clean fresh wine with citrus and apple notes for just £6.99.
Slimming Wine?
With all of that christmas over indulgence there is something even for the New year! With a slightly lighter wine style and less calories and alcohol you have the Slender red and the slender white.
This white wine tastes and smells like pear drops and they are both priced at £6.99.
There are also a large range of winter reds to try and the Co-op have even launched three own label craft beers at £1.49. With Golden all , IPA and Triple hop there is even your beer of choice.
For the stylish and contemporary there are wines with their own up and coming designer funky labels meaning your christmas table will look super stylish and well as taste great.
