Now you know I love London and there is nothing better than tea and cake so coming across this cute little Essex tea room was too good to be true. This piece of London transport history has been transformed and surrounded by tropical trees and adorned with stunning plants.
Take a seat inside or out, hop on or off
There is plenty of seating on the bus inside or upstairs and a fully equipped kitchen. The bus also has a stunning outside space in the sunshine surrounded by the gorgeous Essex countryside. Tables and chairs are laced with potted plants whilst horses graze in the distance.
Drakes Teas on the Bus restoration
The London bus tea room is at Drakes Trees Nursery in Battlesbridge and is the brainchild of Peter Drake. When Peter decided he wanted a tea room at Drakes Trees he decided to renovate the old vintage bus and incorporate afternoon tea. With a love of vintage vehicles the bus was the perfect choice for cake and a cuppa.
The bus took two years to be lovingly restored and it even had a kitchen installed on the lower deck before it was opened at Easter 2019.

The London Bus Tea Room serves the full range of Birchall’s teas alongside a selection of delicious cakes soft drinks and coffee. Choose from an an arrangement of cakes from lemon to chocolate all served whilst sitting on a vintage piece of history.

The bus is open on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am-4pm. It is recommended to check their Facebook page for openings each week.
Drakes Teas On The Bus has plenty of parking and is the perfect place to stop off for refreshments if you are visiting the Battlebridge antiques centre.
At the moment they only take cash so take some pennies with you if you plan to stop by.
