I have never been to morocco but having spent this last week in Malaga I feel I need to go. Many of the houses have a distinctly Moroccan feel in the Costa del sol as the country is just across the coast. With tiled walls and beautiful shapes, It does not seem to matter about matching patterns or colours to make a beautiful style. Take this Moroccan inspired home with a stunning mixtures of tiles in shades of iridescent pink, gold and blue. Those tiles combined with the geometric blue and white tiled hall entrance look amazing. So I decided I wanted to bring a little bit of my Holiday back and Create a Moroccan Haven in my own home
I styled my little corner of my kitchen in to a cosy mini holiday destination with Morocco as my inspiration.
My little sofa looks out on to my soon to be finished garden, I love sitting here and watching the the kids play, the dogs sunbathe and the birds visit for lunch.
It is easy to add a bit of character with green foliage, print cushions or even a tiled table. When I think of Moroccan I see vibrant shades of blue and yellow and intricate patterns and textures. I love lots of cushions in my home and an occasional pop of colour cheers me up. With that Moroccan feel you can mix and match the patterns and they sit perfectly together.
The first choice to theme my room had to be a Moroccan styled lamp as light creates a mood and a different feel all together. Even during the day the light that is thrown from the lamp adds such a warm glow. I am also a great fan of incense, I love the woody heady aroma they bring and they can instantly change a fragrance to any room. A while back I found a little second hand pottery pot which I use to burn incense cones. I have no idea what its original use was but it works perfectly for me.
As for the evening I am now a bit reluctant to leave my cosy corner. The light the lamp creates splatters across the walls with the most magical effect. I am actually thinking of trying this little Beauty in other areas of my home, imagine this lamp amongst silvery greys and hints of gold.
Dolly loved my new indoor outdoor mat and wanted to get in on the act, what is a home interior photo with out a cute pup in the photo? Check out the paw prints on the floor from the dust from the new patio. It is often not very glamorous home styling in my home with three pesky pets!
With that in mind simply adding a cosy throw doubles up as a protective cover from the dogs too. A rug or mat protects the floor and there are so many different styles that can instantly update a room
If you are unsure of adding much more colour you can add moroccan influence simply by looking at the textures and patterns.
Here are a few pieces from Wayfair that can add a bit of a holiday feel to your home.
- I little place to sit or put your feet up with this Pouffe
- Add a some aroma to your home with a beautiful incense holder
- Create pools of patterned light with an Emporio Arts Lamp
- Add a side table as a focal point, I love this adorable intricate one
- A rug changes a room instantly
- Instead of buying a new cushion quickly update your old ones with a cushion cover
I hope you have some ideas to Create a Moroccan Haven in your Home. Have fun and enjoy your little corner. To see the rest of my kitchen take a peek here
