Never had an Indian afternoon tea? Cakes and scones is great but try something different on an Alternative Traders High Tea in London at Cinnamon Bazaar.

I am a complete lover of an afternoon tea but I have never had an Indian afternoon tea. I love to sit at a leisurely pace eating small portion whilst sipping tea or something fizzy.

I was particularly excited about the invite to Cinnamon Bazaar  as it sounded so refreshingly different and envolved a lovely glass of prosecco.

Tucked away in Maidon Lane Covent garden is this majestic little gem, and with teas at just £15 per person its great value . In sumptuous surroundings with hanging baskets you can explore the menu and you can even upgrade your tea and add a cinnamon Bellini for an extra £5 per person.

First course was my favourite Samosa chaat and aloo tikki chaat in a glorious chickpea curry decorated liberally with pomegranate seeds.

And then Who would of thought? Indian tandoori chicken and chutney sandwiches and Bhangra lamb sliders!  We chose one vegetarian option and one meat option to get a taste of everything.

Tasty traditional cakes such as carrot halwa gave just enough sweet for dessert with Ice cream in a lovely coffee flavour perfect to cool off after the spicy treats.

I loved the brightly coloured teapots that served the tea, with a choice of your customary jing teas and something a bit more exciting like the chai tea!

I am a big lover of chai tea since I discovered it a few years ago, I drink it at home without milk. Here they serve it with milk, it is so spicy and warming with gentle aromas of ginger and cardamon.

We greedily had some extra desserts creme Brûlée with cardamon shortbread biscuits and my favourite pistachio ice-cream kulfi.

I love the buzz in cinnamon it’s vibrant and trendy and I feel instantly at ease. The lovely Anna Marie looked after us well and and we have often struck up conversations with her on previous visits.

Cinamon bazaar also has a private function room for events which is bright and airy too, so there is something for everyone.

So whether you fancy a lovely Alternative High Tea in Cinnamon Bazaar or some rich Daal I’m sure you will be pleased to try something that bit special.

You can see my previous review here , about why I love about this place.

  1. Great post! Really enjoyed finding out about this venue – I’ve never heard of it before! I love Chai tea too, so definitely think it’s worth a visit and also sounds like great value for money too – a great experience! Thank you.
