Where to have a luxury stay in Reims?

For a luxurious weekend try L’Assiette Champenoise hotel with its 3 star michelin restaurant. We love to visit the champagne region often and taste some of the 300 million bottles of Champagne produced each year. As an extra special treat we often choose to stay at L’Assiette Champenoise which is situated just outside the centre of Reims in Tinqueux. From here you can visit champagne houses such as Moët and Gosset to name but a few. Furthermore as an added bonus of staying at the L’Assiette Champenoise is the chance to visit Krug which is not open to the general public.

Reims is in the the north west of France and has a bustling nightlife and lots of architecture and history. It is also nice for a weekend break with children as Reims city centre has so much to do. This makes the L’Assiette Champenoise the perfect base for touring this vast champagne area.

The Hotel of L’Assiette Champenoise

Set in a beautiful gardens with a sweeping drive and contemporary reception. The L’Assiette Champenoise is pretty impressive. The bar service is exceptional and the attention to detail is excellent. With a wide choice of champagne, liquers and some pretty old whisky on the menu. This hotel is also one of a very few places that you can actually buy Krug champagne by the glass.

The hotel living space is original quirky and cozy. The outside area is relaxed and the staff are extremely attentive. There are stylish seating areas situated around the hotel as well as the use of a swimming pool and terrace.

Breakfast at the  L’Assiette Champenoise

Breakfast at  L’Assiette Champenoise is a continental affair. With a huge buffet choice of hams, cheeses, pastries and a huge array of condiments, you will not be left hungry.

You can also choose to order from the menu and have the most creamy scrambled eggs or cooked breakfast too. When the weather is nice it is lovely to just sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the greenery.

The suite life at L’Assiette Champenoise

The hotel offers 33 suites and rooms with something for everyone. Traditional rooms, large rooms, junior suites, balcony and terrace suites.

The rooms are stylish, each contemporary adorned with interesting furnishings. Perhaps my favourite rooms are the balcony suites with their works of art adorning the walls such as Renior’s Bal du moulin de la Galette displayed behind the bed.

Lallement the 3 michelin star restaurant at the  L’Assiette Champenoise

Arnold Lallement first took an interest in cooking at a very early age, watching his father cook at the family restaurant in Riem. After studying, Chef Lallement began working his own way through the kitchens of some of the most reputable restaurants in France working with the likes of Roger Vergé, Michel Guérard and Alain Chapel.

He returned to his family at L’Assiette Champenoise and restaurant Lallement has now grown into a three michelin stars establishment. The Lallement was originally opened in 1975 a few kilometres away before moving in 1986 to the hotel restaurant we see today.

Eating at Arnaud Lallement’s restaurant is nothing short of genius. With a story behind each dish from the people who produced the ingredients with passion. This fine cuisine is music on your palette and a feast on your eyes. The setting is contemporary stylish and relaxed with a view of the gardens.

There is a choice of A la carte, or tasting menus with or without wine pairing.

The Krug private tour

The hotel offers packages with their suites which include a meal in the restaurant and a visit to either Krug or Dom Perignon. These packages are limited in quantity and only available on request.

There are not many ways that you can get in to Krug for a private tour. Should you wish to opt for a package option you will find it a unique experience. Choose between The house of Dom Perignon or Krug and you will not be disappointed.

The visits includes a wine tasting, a tour of the cellars and a rare insight in to these two beautiful champagne houses.

L’Assiette Champenoise is a pleasure to visit and a completely unique experience.

  1. I would love to visit. I will be in France in June 2023 with two friends – all women (middle aged haha). Krug is an exquisite dream for me – I only have tasted it once!! we will be in Reims 11th and 12th of June 2023. What packages do you have, please?

    1. Hi you would have to contact the hotel direct. The link is in the post. However if you visit Reims you must go to the avenue De Champagne. Try popping in to Perrier Jouet you can have lunch on their beautiful courtyard. I will be doing a post soon on the best places to visit.
