De la gare restaurant

We were lucky enough to find De la gare restaurant in our hometown Percy, Normandy this time we visited. We normally go bit further afield and didn’t really think to look close by but sometimes the very thing thats under your nose goes unnoticed. De la gare restaurant is one of those places.

The building is an old disused station in the middle of town , funny enough its the second disused station building in France we have visited in under a month. This one was with no exception something special . Its close to our Maison, Friendly , good food and and lovely atmosphere.

De la gare restaurant is a small family run business owned by a lovely couple husband and wife, who cook and serve in the restaurant themselves. They were very warm and friendly and spent some time chatting with us after our meal.

We arrived for a table at 8.30 in the evening and the restaurant was full with what seemed mainly locals from what I read on trip advisor it seems to be a very popular restaurant and booking is definitely advised.

It has a relatively small but varied menu which the chef said he aims to change every 3 months or so using seasonal produce, most of which is sourced locally. Prices average for around €6 euros for starter and €18 for an main. There is also an option of having half a portion of some of the dishes for children.

We all ordered the lobster ravioli to start which was delicious, apart from Harry who had a very beautifully prepared prawn salad. I had the suckling pig for my main whilst the rest of the gang had the beef entrecôte with a foie gras sauce.

Dessert was fantastic, couldn’t resist ordering the trio to taste a little bit of everything.

After we had finished our meal we were not rushed at all, and i do believe we may have been talking a little loud because we felt so relaxed and comfortable. To sum it up, it’s simply  a warm rustic little restaurant with traditional home cooked food that has been prepared to a high standard. We will definitely be back to De la gare restaurant without a doubt next time we are here.
