It’s about that time where we need to start on the garden. My visit to Homesense to see their summer range came just in time and left me contemplating how I would style my garden. Hubby is a Cad designer so with  his business partner they  came up with a fantastic Contemporary Garden Design for our long garden. Making subtle changes with dramatic effect we aim to keep it looking modern yet like a garden should be.

Previously a smaller seating area and about 300ft of grass we can afford to go out abit further with the patio and modernise the area directly outside of the house. The idea is the garden area will simply be an extension of our house.

The original pond ( yes that is a koi pond and not a pool! ) has since rotted away so the existing wooden sleepers will be replaced with block work and rendered. We have decided now that the planters will be replaced with a seating area, which will be next to the barbecue.

The stones used for the patio will be slate grey to match our already grey colour scheme in the home, with rendered pond in white.

Earlier last year before our house was finished we put a deposit down on a Breezehouse. A Breezehouse is a stunning outdoor room with seating area, dining area heaters and lights, to make the most of your outside space. A base will be erected to the side and it will be slightly tilted inwards towards the patio.

I can not wait to dress my home outside, Tables and chairs, cushions and tableware. When styling the breezehouse and patio area homesense will come in very handy, but which do I opt for?

A tropical bright fun look with pops of vibrant colour? Or whimsical subtle shades with pretty detailing?

Although I am really geared up to having a more contemporary garden I still love the whimsical look of a country English garden.

We are hoping to retain this look by choosing the right plants and accessories for our garden.

We are keeping the larger of the trees the apples and the ornamental cherry, and we are hoping to plant some wisteria and climbing plants around the fences and seating area. More colour will be added with plants in pots around the patio area. We will be digging up some of the larger more established shrubs and planting them further down the garden.

The shades of these indoor and outdoor accessories would work perfectly.

Out kitchen and lounge area which looks out on to the garden is grey with flashes of navy and mustard. We are hoping to carry this out in to the breezehouse with grey seating and navy piping.

The tropical teals and vivid yellow would work great with this but also the more muted shades also. I still can’t believe we have many decisions still to make.

I hope you liked our Contemporary Garden Design, Our project starts soon so I will be sharing more of our design decisions along the way. I will be meandering around Homesense for more inspiration in the coming weeks whilst other people do the hard work and start digging.
